and a bag of kibbles. She's the star of blog talk radio - The one, the only, the incomparable...
Scratchy-Cat!!!
Hey there, Scratchy. How do you think your debut on Home School Talk went today?
I thought it went well. How about you?
"I have no comment at this time."
I especially liked the audio recordings of you meowing. Weren't they great?
"Get that camera out of my face."
It's a shame it only lasted an hour!
"She pushed me! I was pushed! Did you see that? SECURITY!"
Thinks she's the cat's meow, doesn't she? What a Diva!
Scratchy-Cat will be a guest meow-er on Home School Talk ! Can you believe it? The show's host, Dana from Principled Discovery, has invited Scratchy (and me, her humble servant) to be guests on the first ever Home School Talk. Home School Talk is (or will be) an online talk show about, what else, homeschooling. It will be live Mondays at 1PM CST. Here is the link.

If you miss it (although, why would ya?) you can play it back after it's over.
As it is the first ever Home School Talk, very important issues will be discussed. How to meow loudly during a spelling test. How to knock to be let in fifty times a day. How to stare at a door until it magically opens for you to be let out. How to properly chase a pencil while its owner is attempting to complete a math worksheet. How to hamper housework. And finally, how to shred a work book.
Edu-Kitty may make a guest appearance!
"Are you ready, Scratchy?"
How foolish of me to ask!
See ya Monday!
On the way back from camp I missed a turn off. We were only a mile or so passed our exit when we startled two large birds out of a bush. I thought perhaps they were Golden Eagles, having seen one once before in Colorado. I wasn't sure though, and when we got home I pulled out the old bird identification guide. The picture certainly matched, however according to the guide book Golden Eagles are not common in the area where we spotted them. I handed the book to Salamander.
"Find the birds we saw," I told him.
He looked through the book and decided on Golden Eagle also.
Guess what? We saw a couple of Golden Eagles on our way back from camp!
That's our story, and we're sticking to it. What do the books know, anyway?
.
"Attention please, everyone. Thank you. Due to a nasty cold (which involves fever, hacking, sneezing, coughing, wheezing, red puffy eyes - honestly, she's rather frightening!) the Activities Coordinator is taking a short break from blogging."
"I, personally, have vacated the premises. While it's true that I would rather not be sneezed on, the real reason is those children! They've been left unsupervised and are running amuk! One game of "Spin the Kitty" was one too many."
"Take my advice, people. Go play Mahjong. Come back Monday."
This is Dixie. She's my cousin. Kind of.
Dixie is the child (and I use that term loosely, you understand) of my first cousin, once removed. In other words, she is my mother's first cousin's pup.
Therefore, it stands to reason that Dixie is my second cousin. Right? Yeah.
So anyway, I saw Dixie at our recent family reunion. I hadn't seen her in a year, but she hadn't aged a day.
She's getting on a bit, our Dixie is. She's what you might call the canine matriach of the family.
She's sharp as a tack, though...
Never misses a trick, does Dixie. Not like that free-wheeling niece of hers, Lily.
Been hitting the Kibbles pretty hard there, eh Lily? Don't get me wrong. She's a good girl, Lily, just a bit wet behind the ears, if you get my meaning.
Lily is my second cousin, once removed, being the pup of my second cousin, who is the child of my mother's first cousin. Are you taking notes? There's a quiz later.
Back to Dixie...as I was saying, she's always ready for anything, that girl. Why, once at the reunion, she actually thought about getting up.
Not saying that she actually got up, or anything...
But she thought about it.
Active lifestyles are a must in our family, so she fits right in.
Today we bought a helmet. That would be a Troxel helmet, size medium in black. (No, this isn't an advertisement.)
Butterfly is taking a horse master class. A horse master is someone, apparently, who is a master of all knowledge horse related. This includes both an academic and a practical understanding of, uh, horse stuff. Have you caught on yet that I am not the equestrian of the family? That would be The C.F.O. If you have any horse related questions, please direct them to him.
I am, however, very knowledgeable of just how expensive Butterfly's brain is. Now that we have scientific verification of her brain's size (and existence - that's from her brother), girlfriend is wearing a helmet or she's not going within three miles of one of those thousand plus pound darlings.
One horse induced head injury (dear husband) in the family is more than enough.
It's that time of the week when Grandma gives us our Word of the Week. Helping Grandma today is EduKitty. EduKitty will spell the word for us using Scrabble letters.
EduKitty...? Are you ready? Here we go.
"*S*E*R*...yawn."
"*E*N*...."
Jiminy Crickets! Pardon us, folks, but it appears that EduKitty has had her brain Scrabbled. Yep, she's definitely catatonic. EduKitty? Hellooooo?
Ah, well. The Word of the Week is SERENDIPITY. Hit the link for the definition. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and hire a new assistant. You just can't find good help these days.
