The New Face of Monday

Thanks for the photo, Aussie Kim!

Her Debut

Scratchy-Cat will be a guest meow-er on Home School Talk ! Can you believe it? The show's host, Dana from Principled Discovery, has invited Scratchy (and me, her humble servant) to be guests on the first ever Home School Talk. Home School Talk is (or will be) an online talk show about, what else, homeschooling. It will be live Mondays at 1PM CST. Here is the link.

 http://www.blogtalkradio.com/homeschooltalk

If you miss it (although, why would ya?) you can play it back after it's over.

As it is the first ever Home School Talk, very important issues will be discussed. How to meow loudly during a spelling test. How to knock to be let in fifty times a day. How to stare at a door until it magically opens for you to be let out. How to properly chase a pencil while its owner is attempting to complete a math worksheet. How to hamper housework. And finally, how to shred a work book.

Edu-Kitty may make a guest appearance!

"Are you ready, Scratchy?"

Get Serious.

How foolish of me to ask!

See ya Monday!

This Slug's for You

The other day my sister, Aunt the Major, called from Korea. (Yes, South Korea.) She told me that my pistol-of-a-nephew, Minor B, thought my story of how my children created a slug themed Mother's day a couple of years ago because I, his beloved aunt and their beloved mother, had skated across the kitchen floor on a slug was hi-larious. He would.

Anyway, night before last, I decided that I would see if I could drum up any slug photos for my pistol-of-a-nephew, Minor B, so I went on a slug hunt. I took this extremely blurry shot of an icky slug - hey, that sucker was moving- on the front porch! Uck.

Slug

This was the best of a really bad lot of photos, so I decided to see if I could improve upon it with photo shop. I fiddled a little with the contrast.

Slug32

Not much better, is it? How disappointing. At this point, I should left well enough alone, but I was tired, and when I get tired, I tend to get a little loopy. So I decided to see how the icky slug would look desaturated.

Sluginblackandwhite

Bor-ing! I think he needs a little color.

Slughue114

Freaky. "Hey, Sluggo, are you feeling blue?"

Aquaslug_2

This reminds me of those early animated movies - the ones where they would play with all of those psychedelic colors. Am I right?

Slughue34

I don't know about you, but to me, nothing says "I love my nephew" like a green and orange slug shot.

Orangeslug

One more? You want one more? Well, what the heck, why not?

Slug90

Is it just me, or is it getting bigger?

Sorry, but the slug-fest is over. That's all I can handle for now.

I hope Minor B enjoyed the show 'cause I'll be dreaming about that pink and orange slug for weeks. Ick.

View from the Shotgun Seat

A couple of weeks ago, the kiddos and I were driving home when the heavens opened up and the spit everything they had done on us. So naturally, I tossed the point and click to Salamander and let him have at it. What was I thinking?

This was the storm, as he saw it.

Here it comes...

In the immortal words of Batman, "Ka-POW!"

If he had seen my view, all he would have noticed were the white knuckles.

Y, Indeed?!?

I think this goes under the heading, "You know you're a homeschooling mom when...!"

I really need to do a better job checking pockets.

A Day In the Life of Scratchy-Cat: A Photographic Journey

Sn1

Sometimes, Scratchy spends the day sleeping in Butterfly's room.

Sn2

She needs to rest, you know.

Sn3

Life is hard on our planet. Very, very hard.

Sn4

Unless, of course, you're the cat.

Korea In the Spring

Aunt The Major sent some photos from South Korea. I couldn't resist sharing this one with you.

Tiger and the Laws of Physics

It could be their healthy eating habits (I try), or it could be their father's DNA (more likely), but my kids are skinny. S-K-I-N-N-Y. When you turn them sideways they disappear. They're not emaciated. Nobody call C.P.S. I do feed them, you know.

Sure, being thin is a good thing in many ways: lower cholesterol, lower blood sugar and it sure helps the old blood pressure. It's no bed of roses, however. When you're cruisin' at Mach 2 backwards down a hill,

Backwards

and a giant gust of wind picks you up and flips you over, like this,...

Tumble

being thin as a rail isn't all it's cracked up to be. What do you say, Tiger?

Maybe a pre-sledding lesson on gravity and aerodynamics would have been helpful.

And They Call This the South.

People laugh when I tell them that I've moved to the frozen tundra of Northern Mississippi.

Well, here's the proof, doggone it!

Gi_sneaux

Now, I ask you, do I look warm? Maybe thicker socks would help.
