"Can we move the bench into the living room?" The Butterfly asked. You've got to be kidding I thought. I spent the day cleaning, and you want to rearrange the furniture?
"Go ahead," I told her, sighing deeply. Unaffected by my long-suffering look, she clapped her hands and got to work. She and The Tiger moved the bench and two chairs from the dining room, draped them with blankets, and set up a puppet show. They then proceeded to spend the next half-hour making me giggle. I couldn't tell you the plot of the show, to be honest, I'm not sure there was a plot. But I can tell you that it was the best entertainment I've had in quite some time.
I'm so glad I got over myself and told her to move the bench.
Act One
The Grande Finale in three parts. Part I,
Part II,
Part III!
Anyone who comes over to my house during the holidays will just have to realize that I have children. They're welcome to step over the stuffed animals, pull up a sofa and enjoy the show.
Head on over to Rocks In My Dryer and see what works for other folks.
And they can step over miles and miles of Thomas the Train tracks at our home! I bet the puppet show was cute!

wonderful and sweet. sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and let go... i have to ask myself: "why not?" and then i usually end up saying "go ahead" even though my first instinct is to say no... i say no a lot -- so it makes me very glad to be able to say yes to things like this! good for you.

I needed this reminder today to let my kids make "forts" in the living room and laugh at their silly Mr. Potato Head creations. It is just stuff, and if people haven't realized that I have kids yet they are not really paying attention... but what props to facilitate long lasting memories! Way to go Mommy!
